Watch Olympian Val Constien Dial In for LA Track Fest With Her First Steeple Workout of the Season
On the Laces: Episode 3 - Val Constien
Five weeks into her outdoor season, Val is sharpening for the LA Track Fest Steeplechase with one of her final key workouts before race day.
After opening with a 1500m at Bryan Clay, training has shifted toward higher-intensity VO2 max work and steeple-specific speed. This session combines hurdle 800s, fast 300s, and water jump practice to build rhythm, turnover, and race readiness ahead of her next steeplechase.
Using Stryd throughout the build, Val tracks power, efficiency, and workout execution as training intensity ramps up heading into championship season.
Val finishes the session with her fastest reps of the day, closing her final 800 meters over hurdles in 2:22 and her last flat 300 meters in 48 seconds as fitness continues building toward championship season.
Next stop: LA Track Fest on May 23rd. Subscribe to the Stryd YouTube channel to follow Val’s road to the US Championships Steeplechase this summer.
