Boston Breakthrough: Watch Clayton Young’s Final Week of Training Before His 7th Place Finish at the 2025 Boston Marathon

Heading into the 2025 Boston Marathon, Clayton Young’s tune-up week was all about sharpening the sword.

Since the Boston course consists of rolling hills, unpredictable weather, and shifting winds—Clayton leaned on Stryd to help fine-tune his physical game. By tracking power, not pace, he could measure effort with precision, no matter the terrain.

With the physical side dialed in, it was time to shift focus to the mental game.

“At this point in the build, my physical preparation starts to take a back seat to my mental preparation. I have to believe in my ability to be at the top. Like Meb Keflezighi says, 'Run to win.'"

And believe he did! On Marathon Monday, Clayton powered through Boston’s legendary hills to clock a new personal best of 2:07:04, to finish as the second American, and secure an impressive 7th place overall finish in one of the deepest fields.
