As a finalist in the 3000-meter steeplechase at both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics, Val has demonstrated extraordinary skill on the global stage. With a U.S. Olympic Trials record and a personal best time of 9:03.22, she stands as the third fastest American steeplechaser in history. Now, Val brings her extensive experience and a deep understanding of performance training to Stryd, designing workouts that are tailored to help you excel.

These workouts are ideal for 5K and 10K runners looking to enhance their speed and endurance. Featuring intervals ranging from 50 seconds to 4 minutes, each session allows you to lock in and reach new heights, while longer recovery periods help you maximize your gains and perform each workout as effectively as possible.

Train Like a Pro: Workouts to Get You Race-Ready!

These workouts are designed to be straightforward yet impactful, ensuring you're race-ready just in time for your next starting line.

  • 90 Seconds @ 10K Power: You will start with a 20 minute warm up followed by eight to ten sets of 90 seconds at your 10K power with 2 minutes easy in between. You will end with a 10 minute cool down.
  • 2 Minutes @ 5K Power: You will start with a 20 minute warm up followed by six sets of 2 minutes at your 5K power with 3 minutes easy in between. You will end with a 10 minute cool down.
  • 50 Seconds @ 5K Power: You will start with a 20 minute warm up followed by ten sets of 50 seconds at your 5K power with 2 minutes & 30 seconds easy in between. You will end with a 10 minute cool down.
  • 4 Minutes @ 10K Power: You will start with a 20 minute warm up followed by four sets of 4 minutes at your 10K power with 3 minutes easy in between. You will end with a 10 minute cool down.
