Closer Look | New Race Day Support for Adaptive Training

Since launching Adaptive Training, we've been focused on one guiding principle: your training should adapt to your life—not the other way around.

Today, we're taking the next step in that vision. Adaptive Training now supports race dates, building an intelligent, race-specific training plan around your goal event so that every workout moves you closer to your best performance on the day that matters most.

Your Race Day. Your Plan. Built Automatically.

Now, when you add a race to your calendar in the Stryd app, Adaptive Training takes over. It builds a complete training cycle around your event—including a dedicated taper—so you arrive at the starting line fit, fresh, and ready to perform.

No more guessing how to structure the weeks before your race. No more wondering when to taper or how to balance training load as race day approaches. Adaptive Training handles it all, giving you a purposeful path from where you are today to the starting line of your goal event.

Train for What Matters Most with A, B, and C Priorities

Not every race on your calendar carries the same weight, and your training shouldn't treat them the same way. That's why Adaptive Training now lets you assign a priority to each event: A, B, or C.

Event A is your premier race—the one you circle on the calendar and build your training cycle around. This is the race that comes at the end of a dedicated build, after a proper taper, where you go after your best result. Adaptive Training constructs an end-to-end training cycle aligned to this date, with purposeful phases designed to have you peaking when it counts.

Event B is a stepping stone. These are secondary races that help you gauge where your fitness stands as your Event A approaches. Think of them as checkpoints along the way. Adaptive Training keeps your Event A cycle intact but automatically schedules easy running around your Event B so you can race without disrupting your bigger plan.

Event C is a fun run or rust buster. These races take less priority and are typically not done at maximum effort. Toss them into your schedule whenever you like—they will not affect your training plan.

Smart Race Logic That Works Behind the Scenes

When you set your Event A race, Adaptive Training does the planning for you.

The system analyzes the time between now and race day and builds a race-specific cycle that ends with a dedicated taper. Taper length and training volume are scaled to match your race goal—whether that's a 5K or a Marathon—so you get the right amount of sharpening before you toe the line.

For Event B races, the approach is different by design. Your training cycle stays exactly where it is. Adaptive Training simply ensures you have easy running two days before the race and one easy day after, so you can race comfortably and then pick up right where you left off in your Event A build. If a rest day already falls on one of those days, nothing changes—you keep your rest day.

This means you can race throughout your training cycle without derailing the work you've put in toward your primary goal.
