Build Strength This August With Float Recovery Workouts

Build Strength This August With Float Recovery Workouts

For the month of August, we are excited to introduce four new quality sessions to the Workout of the Week library to help you build stronger, more resilient fitness.

These workouts will have you locking into your 10K to marathon power, but with a twist: every session is built on continuous quality. Instead of an easy recovery jog between intervals, each recovery is prescribed as a float. A float sits above a casual jog, keeping your aerobic system engaged and teaching your body to clear lactate on the move. Every part of the session has a purpose, right down to the recovery.

Let’s dive into the new workouts released this month.

Discover Workouts Where Recovery Makes You Stronger

Each workout this month is designed to help you sustain a stronger effort for longer by replacing easy recoveries with purposeful float recoveries.

  • The Anchor: After a 15 minute warmup, you will run four sets of 1 kilometer repeats at your half marathon power with a 400 meter float at a moderate effort in between. Finish the session with a 15 minute cooldown.
  • The Slow Burn: You will start this workout with a 15 minute warmup before running three sets of 2 kilometer repeats at your marathon effort, with a 400 meter float at a moderate effort between each. Finish the session with a 15 minute cooldown.
  • The Escalator: Start with a 15 minute warmup before tackling this progressive interval session. You will begin with 1,600 meters at your marathon effort, followed by a 400 meter float recovery. From there, the intervals get shorter and faster: 1,200 meters at your half marathon effort, 800 meters at your half marathon power, and finally 400 meters at your 10K power, with a 400 meter float between each repeat. Finish the workout with a 15 minute cooldown.
  • The Weave: You will start with a 15 minute warmup. Then, you will run six sets of 600 meters at your half marathon power with a 200 meter float recovery in between. The workout ends with a 12 minute cool down.
