24 Days to Comrades: Can I Still Run a Sub 2:10 800? | On The Laces

Episode 2 of Charlie's Comrade Build | Out Now

24 days out from Comrades, 100K American record holder Charlie Lawrence heads to the track for a key workout in the middle of a heavy training block.

After a 50K day earlier in the week and plenty of vertical gain in recent training, the goal was simple: test the legs with a set of hard 800m reps before moving to hill repeats. With so much of his training taking place on hilly terrain, Charlie also reflects on a challenge many runners face: pace alone doesn't always tell the full story.

After weeks of climbing and high-volume training, judging fitness by pace can be difficult. That's where Stryd's power-based training provides a clearer picture of effort, helping runners understand their performance regardless of terrain, elevation, or conditions.

The session finishes with progressively faster hill repeats and a reassuring sign that, even with fatigue in the legs, the fitness is right where it needs to be as Comrades draws closer.
