New Video Series: On the Laces with Stryd — Stepping Down from Ultras to the Marathon with Charlie Lawrence
New Video Series | Watch Episode 1
The new On the Laces video series takes you inside the training, data, and decisions behind elite runners.
In Episode 1, we follow 100K American Record holder and 50-mile world record holder Charlie Lawrence as he begins his Boston Marathon training, preparing for his first marathon after a series of ultra races before returning to ultra training for the Comrades Marathon in June. Eleven weeks out, Charlie heads to Rollinsville, CO (8,669 ft) to simulate the Boston Marathon course with a 21-mile long run.
Using Stryd throughout his marathon build, Charlie tracks power across various conditions while leveraging Leg Spring Stiffness (LSS) to maintain late-race pop and Impact Loading Rate (ILR) to manage downhill impact. As he builds speed with VO2 max and marathon-specific workouts, he balances performance with durability, managing an Achilles issue and post-100K glute tightness, while using Stryd to turn effort into progress.
This is the first step in Charlie’s build to the Boston Marathon. Watch the full video and subscribe to the Stryd YouTube channel to follow along.
