The Tinman Elite are quickly becoming the most talked about elite track and field team in the United States. Head Coach Tom "Tinman" Schwartz uses Stryd metrics to help guide the Tinman Elite's training. We caught up with Tom and his athletes as they ran a track session (at 5200 feet) and a long run (at 9,000 feet) in the lead up to the biggest event of the summer: USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, IA.

Drew had one of the most succcessful high school running careers in the history of the sport. Instead of following the traditional path of running 4 years in college, Drew signed a professional contract with Adidas as he graduated from high school.

Sam, the former captain of NC State's xc and track and field teams, retired from running after college only to return to the sport for some unfinished business.
"We started this whole journey six months ago, and now all the sudden all four of us are on the biggest stage in the United States"

Besides Tom Tinman Swartz himself, there is no one in the group more knoweledgeable about the sport of running on the team than Tyler. Like Sam, Tyler came out of his running retirement to join the Tinman Elite.

Reed turned down multiple professional contracts to join Tinman. Reed will be returning to his alma mater, Drake University, to compete on the same track, where he had a very successful colligate career.

A lifelong athlete and coach for multiple decades, Tom has worked with athletes of all abilities from young runners new to the sport to the best distance runners in the United States.
